Autism Research Institute
Rates of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis in children are rapidly increasing to epidemic proportions, and are expected to continue to rise. Families and communities struggle to understand, and to cope with this challenge. While causes of ASD remain unclear, recent scientific advances challenge the traditional view of autism as an untreatable disease—as one that is “genetically hard-wired.” These developments support the position that Autism Research Institute (ARI) has always maintained: Autism Is Treatable.
The Autism Research Institute (ARI) is the hub of a worldwide network of parents and professionals concerned with autism. ARI was founded in 1967 to conduct and foster scientific research designed to improve the methods of diagnosing, treating, and preventing autism. ARI also disseminates research findings to parents and others worldwide seeking help. The ARI data bank, the world's largest, contains over 42,000 detailed case histories of autistic children from over 60 countries. ARI publishes the Autism Research Review International, a quarterly newsletter covering biomedical and educational advances in autism research.
ARI is determined to say the least and here are just a few ways they continue to grow and better their capabilities: sponsored biannual conferences, clinician seminars, think tanks, a published hardcopy quarterly science newsletter. They also established two toll-free call-in centers, one in English and one in Spanish; began a monthly e-newsletter; developed a rural outreach program; started translating key articles; and began a formal network with other autism organizations.
The Autism Research Institute is completely transparent on their vision, research, and progress. They have been a leader in autism research for over 40 years and PIF Apparel is delighted to introduce a worthy cause and charity to Generation Give.
